SZA Finally Releases Long-Awaited ‘Lana’ Album

Album featuring Kendrick Lamar, Benny Blanco and more

SZA’s Lana, the long-awaited deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning 2022 album SOS, has officially arrived. Released on December 20, the expansive project transforms the original SOS into a 38-track behemoth, featuring 15 new songs, including collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Lil Yachty, and Benny Blanco.

The album’s rollout was not without drama. Initially slated for a midnight release, Lana was delayed to ensure “new mixes ingest evenly across all platforms,” according to SZA. Fans finally got their hands on the album around 3 p.m. EST, with the wait proving worthwhile. “Just needed a few more hours for new mixes to ingest evenly,” SZA shared on Instagram, reflecting the perfectionism that has defined her work.

Among the standout tracks, “30 for 30” features Kendrick Lamar, following their recent collaborations on Lamar’s GNX album. The tracklist also includes fan favorites like “Saturn” and the new single “Drive,” whose video—starring Ben Stiller—dropped just hours before the album’s release.

The new material showcases SZA’s evolution as an artist. In interviews leading up to the release, she described Lana as more than a deluxe edition. “It’s a whole new project,” she said. “I think I’m making music from a more beautiful place—not just angst or heartbreak, but something more reflective.”

Lana is also deeply personal. Its title pays homage to SZA’s nickname and first tattoo, a moniker she adopted as a teenager. The songs blend fresh tracks with outtakes from SOS, offering fans a mix of familiarity and discovery.

The album arrives ahead of SZA’s 2025 stadium tour with Kendrick Lamar, which promises to be one of next year’s biggest musical events. With Lana, SZA continues to push the boundaries of contemporary R&B, solidifying her position as one of the most innovative and compelling voices in music today.

Lana is available now on all major streaming platforms.
