British Jamaican designer Grace Wales Bonner has chosen recording artist Solange Knowles as the face of her “Dream Study” AW24 campaign. Following her graduation from Central Saint Martins, Bonner launched her eponymous brand, blending elements of Afro and European fashion. ‘Dream Study’ conceptualizes 1990s collegiate dressing, reimagining preppy street style. The empowering campaign featured Knowles wearing four Wales Bonner luxury looks. Photographer Zoe Ghertner captured Knowles in New York, posing alongside a sculptural work by artist Kayode Ojo.
Bonner and Knowles previously collaborated on a T-shirt line for a music series program, “Eldorado Ballroom,” titled after the historic music hall in Knowles’ hometown. The T-shirts commemorated the Saint Heron events which honored Black artisans and their efforts for archival preservation.
This campaign reflects Bonner and Knowles’ creative relationship and artistic values, celebrating multicultural perspectives.
