Halle Berry vs Drake: The Social Media Drama that’s turning heads

Drake uses image anyways

The entertainment industry has always been full of surprises, particularly when it comes to social media. Recently, Hollywood actress Halle Berry and Canadian rapper Drake were caught up in a social media drama that had fans abuzz. Berry accused Drake of using a photo of her without her permission, which he confusingly connected to his new song “Slime You Out.” The move didn’t sit well with the actress and stirred up heated reactions among their fans. In this blog post, we’ll dive into the drama and explore why Berry was upset about the use of her image.

After the release of his new single “Slime You Out,” Drake chose to use a particular photo of Halle Berry taken in the iconic 2003 MTV Movie Awards. The photo shows Berry soaked in green slime and gave the impression that she might have some involvement with Drake’s song. Fans were quick to recognize the image and began to speculate about any underlying subtext or meaning. However, Berry didn’t seem pleased about the image or Drake’s use of it. Berry shared a pink square on Instagram, with the words “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy… even if you’re a woman!” Many of her followers interpreted this as a shade or criticism directed towards Drake. Although Berry didn’t mention the rapper’s name on her post, fans noted the subtext since it coincided with Drake’s promotional efforts for his new single.

Afterward, a follower asked Berry for her opinion on Drake’s use of the picture to promote his new single. Berry wrote back, “Didn’t get my permission, That’s not cool. I thought better of him.” The actress’s response sparked outrage from many of Drake’s fans and followers. A different follower questioned the meaning behind Drake’s use of the photo, saying he was disturbed by what it represented, and the author gave the provocative song title. In true Halle Berry fashion, she fired back with the same wonder and disbelief. The comment section was flooded with scathing remarks about Drake, and Berry didn’t mince words when she tried to clarify her strong feelings about the situation.

Berry later responded to a comment that suggested the picture was owned by Getty and Drake hadn’t breached any copyright by using it. “Cuz he asked me and I said NO that’s why. Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do! That was the f— you to me. Not cool, you get it?” wrote Berry in reply.

The drama surrounding Drake’s use of Halle Berry’s picture to promote his new song was an intriguing social media occurrence. While Berry is a popular actress, many people had never even heard of her connection to Drake until the drama surfaced. Nevertheless, the incident raised a question about the ethics of using someone’s image without their permission. It also underlined the importance of respecting other people’s property, privacy, and individuality – especially in an industry where such things are often taken for granted.
