Beyonce and Blue Ivy Carter announced in “Mufasa: The Lion King”

Disney unveiled the first trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King,” a prequel to the 2019 remake, announcing Blue Ivy Carter joining the voice cast.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film delves into Mufasa’s backstory, focusing on his childhood with brother Scar. Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. voice young Mufasa and Scar, respectively.

Notable returning cast members include John Kani, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, and Beyoncé. Blue Ivy Carter will voice Kiara. Lin-Manuel Miranda will write the songs, with Lebo M contributing. New additions to the cast include Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Preston Nyman, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, and Keith David.

The original “Lion King” was a massive success, grossing $960 million worldwide, with the 2019 version exceeding $1.6 billion.

Experience “Mufasa: The Lion King” in theaters starting Dec. 20.
