Tyler the Creator Is Against ‘Meme Rappers’

Is Tyler the Creator a hater? The rapper, known for his blunt comments and goofy personality, appeared on the Mavericks with Mav Carter show to share his current views on the industry. His comments could be stirring the pot for another hip-hop feud beginning.

“There’s so many [artists] out right now that aren’t musicians that are getting treated like musicians because they make meme records,” Tyler explained to host Mav.

While Tyler didn’t name-drop any artist, fans speculate he’s calling out ian for mimicking sounds from other rappers. “There’s this kid right now, this white kid, regular Caucasian man, and he’s like mocking Future and Gucci Mane, like, rap music. This is like weird, and I’m looking at it and something about it don’t even sit well with me, in comparison to someone like a Mac Miller or Eminem who didn’t seem like they were mocking it; they had a genuine love for it,” Tyler said. Tyler made it clear it wasn’t a race issue but a respect issue.

Tyler could be standing up for the genre or his fellow veterans in the scene, but the online sympathy favors ian so far. Fans don’t think he’s being treated fairly and believe he’s trying to do his own thing as an emerging rapper.
