Bruce Springsteen Unearths Seven ‘Lost’ Albums for June Release

Legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen has thrilled fans by announcing he will release seven previously unreleased albums this summer. Dubbed Tracks II: The Lost Albums, the massive collection is set to come out on June 27 and will contain songs spanning four decades of Springsteen’s career. These aren’t just leftover tracks, but seven full-length albums that The Boss recorded at various points between 1983 and 2018 but never officially released — until now. Longtime fans have heard rumors about Springsteen’s vault overflowing with unheard material, and this release will finally open those archives. In total, the box set boasts over 80 unreleased songs, offering an unprecedented look at “lost” chapters of Springsteen’s musical journey.

Each of the seven shelved albums captures a distinct era and sound from Springsteen’s rich career. For example, one disc titled LA Garage Sessions ’83 features raw, lo-fi band recordings from 1983, a period when Springsteen was writing in the aftermath of Nebraska and before Born in the U.S.A.. Another collection, Streets of Philadelphia Sessions, delves into the early ’90s with the drum loops and synthesizers Springsteen experimented with around the time he created the Oscar-winning song “Streets of Philadelphia.” There’s even an entire album called Faithless, originally composed as a soundtrack for a film that was never made, and a country-tinged album titled Somewhere North of Nashville, showcasing Springsteen’s foray into pedal-steel and twang. One of the most intriguing entries is Twilight Hours, described as an orchestra-driven, noir-inspired set of songs unlike anything we’ve heard from him before. Capping off the collection is Perfect World, a rock album from 2018 that carries the classic, arena-ready E Street Band sound — a “lost” project that fans have speculated about in recent years. In fact, Springsteen has already given a sneak peek by releasing a single from Perfect World called “Rain in the River,” a booming, soulful rocker that reassures fans the vintage Springsteen spirit is alive and well.

Springsteen expressed his personal excitement about finally sharing these long-hidden works. “The Lost Albums were full records, some even mixed and ready to go, that I’ve played only for myself and a few close friends over the years,” he said in a statement, noting how happy he is that fans will get to hear them at last. For devotees of The Boss, this box set is nothing short of a treasure trove — essentially seven new Springsteen albums dropping all at once. Expect a journey through different styles and eras: from stripped-down home recordings and storytelling ballads to soaring heartland rock anthems. It’s a monumental release that fills in the gaps of Springsteen’s catalog, and it promises to deepen our understanding of his artistry. Come June, fans will be able to dive into these lost albums and discover what gems Springsteen had up his sleeve, making this summer an unforgettable one for the E Street Nation.
