Album Review: Drake, “Thank Me Later”

drakeEvery decade a hip hop album comes out that not only lives up to the hype, but it completely blows away the expectations. Joining the ranks of Reasonable Doubt by Jay-Z and College Drop Out by Kanye West is an album from Canadian born actor turned rapper Aubrey Drake Graham a.k.a. Drake. His debut album entitled Thank Me Later, is one of the few albums in recent years that truly embodies the music and soul of an artist. Though many were skeptical as to whether or not the rapper could produce a full album that maintains the level of interest and intensity as the artist mixtapes and numerous pre-debut collaborations, the end result put all of their skepticisms to rest.

With more than ability to rap, he sings with his own unique lyrical arrangement. Thank Me Later, takes flight with an amazing duet opposite soul singer Alicia Keys. The introductory song, ‘Fireworks’, undoubtedly sets the tone for what goes on to be a stellar album. Continuing on with songs like “Over,” “Show Me a Good Time, ” “Up All Night, Fancy,” “Shut It Down, and finishing up with “Find Your Love” allows listeners the ability to listen to his album straight through from start to finish with very little room for fillers. Even with collaborations from superstar artist like T.I., Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, The Dream and Lil Wayne, Drake still has no issue with maintaining his voice and sheer appeal to anyone listening to the album.

If your were waiting for an album this year that was worth the purchase, then the appropriately titled debut album Thank Me Later from Drake will have you thanking him for years to come. It’s not the best album ever created, but it’s certainly one of the best albums of 2010 and surely music classic.

Is Kanye West resorting to porn?

kanyewestKanye West has never been one to censor his music or visual persona but Ms. Tisk Tisk is quite disgusted by the current changes to his web portal. When visiting his official site ‘kanyewest.com,’ you are greeted by the warning, “THIS WEBSITE CONTAINS EXPLICIT ADULT MATERIAL. YOU MAY ONLY ENTER THIS WEBSITE IF YOU ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE, OR AT LEAST THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN THE JURISDICTION WHERE YOU RESIDE OR FROM WHICH YOU ACCESS THIS WEBSITE IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THE WEBSITE.”

Before clicking “enter,” please be sure that anyone under the age of 18 is safely out of the room because you are indeed about to see some of the most titillating adult material to come from a recording artist thus far. The images/photographs include masturbation (with adult toys), fellatio, bondage,  nudity and photos of female genitalia. This used to be a blog for fashion and social conciseness but has turned into a blog of sexual exploration. If your fans were over 35 then this would make since but your fans are 12 year old boys and girls along with the adult crowd.

Talk to us Kanye. How can we help? Has your site been hacked? Are you going through a mid-life crisis? Like many of my Twitter pals would say #FAIL.

Kanye West/Lady Gaga tour scrapped

kanyewest23vdwlcPromoter Live Nation announced Thursday evening (October 1) that the highly-anticipated Fame Kills Tour, which was to be co-headlined by Kanye West and Lady Gaga has been cancelled.

Live Nation issues a press release indicating that refunds are available at point of purchase. Tickets purchased by phone or online will be refunded automatically.

The reasons for the cancellation of the tour, which was scheduled to kick off November 10, in Phoenix, Arizona, were not announced at press time. Rumors of the tour’s potential cancellation have gotten louder in recent days as the backlash against West grew after his outburst at last month’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Lady Gaga had said during previous interviews that she would hit the road in March 2010, after the conclusion of the Fame Kills Tour. Whether those plans change remain to be seen.
