Kendrick Lamar is a source of inspiration when times are tough for certain demographics of individuals. In 2015 Lamar put out the Grammy-winning album To Pimp a Butterfly and in 2016 he shared untitled unmastered., the compilation of demos from the 2015 release.
Each of the last two release debuted at number one on top of the Billboard 200 chart and each had the subject matter that was incredibly politically and socially-charged. In Lamar's cover story with T Magazine he revealed some topics to be addressed in upcoming music.
"I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork."
Lamar went on to describe an analogy of having a child of your own:
"One day, I may have a little girl... She’s gonna grow up. She’s gonna be a child I adore, I’m gonna always love her, but she’s gonna reach that one point where she’s gonna start experiencing things. And she’s gonna say things or do things that you may not condone... Learning to accept it, and not run away from it, that’s how I want this album to feel."
It has also been widely rumored that Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar have been working on ideas together to fuel a feud with Drake. Time will tell what's first on the musical agenda.
What do you think the album will be like?
