The Top 10 IFPI Global Recording Artists of 2016 Revealed

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has released their annual top recording artists of the year. With physical sales, downloads and streaming taken into account, Drake has been revealed to be 2016's best selling artist in the world. Drake's Views was on the Billboard 200 at number one for 13 nonconsecutive weeks and was the top selling release in the United States and Canada.

IFPI chief executive Frances Moore:

“I’m delighted to be able to honor Drake as the IFPI Global Recording Artist 2016. Drake’s phenomenal success reflects how deeply his unique sound appeals to an enormous global audience. The Global Top 10 list features a number of amazing artists, and the variety and vibrancy of their art speaks volumes about the exciting state of music today.”

The list comes posthumously to both David Bowie and Prince and has surely once again has shown their impact on the music industry. Last year’s winner, Adele, is also featured on the list.
