In case you were in la la land, Frank Ocean released his new visual album, Endless, last Friday. On August 20, the next day, he released his (other?) new album, Blonde. From what we've known, his label Def Jam have been keeping his artistry a secret over the past four years, since the release of Channel Orange.
But it's news to us that this whole project was self released.
The reveal of both projects “fulfills Frank’s obligations to Def Jam and Universal,” sources told Pitchfork - Blonde was self released by Ocean. However, the credits at the end of Endless mention the label, but the metadata on Blonde just mentions “Boys Don’t Cry,” additionally the title of the magazine he revealed with the project.
With this being said, take a listen to the new album again. One more time can't hurt...
