Yesterday, the a cappella pop sensations of Pentatonix held a live chat and special performance at YouTube Space NY for a few lucky RSVP'ers. The event, PTX’mas In July, was a free surprise appearance that had only been announced the day before and quickly ‘sold out’ less than 45 minutes after going live. During the live-streamed event, the group announced that they would be dropping a brand new Christmas album later this year (rumored in October), and we couldn't be more excited!
After winning the a cappella competition, The Sing-Off, back in 2011, Pentatonix has been highly successful with their two previous Christmas albums, PTX’mas and That’s Christmas To Me. Particularly with That’s Christmas To Me going double platinum and becoming “the highest-charting holiday album by a group since 1962, and the fourth-best-selling album in the United States in 2014.”
In addition to announcing the news about a new album, PTX also announced a new partnership with the cough drop company, Ricola, and what seems to be a new marketing campaign for both.
