50 Cent, Ennio Morricone in News Notes

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday (July 13) that 50 Cent filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as an individual, according to court documents. The rapper, whose legal name is Curtis Jackson, lost a lawsuit last Friday (July 10), filed by a woman named Lavonia Leviston, who alleged that Jackson had leaked a sex tape in which Leviston appeared in an attempt to embarrass rapper Rick Ross, who has a child with Leviston. The jury in the case ordered Jackson to pay Leviston $5 million in compensatory damages, and has yet to decide whether to award her an additional sum in punitive damages...

Legendary composer Ennio Morricone will compose the original score for the forthcoming Quentin Tarentino western, The Hateful 8. This marks the first time that Tarentino will use an original score from a single composer for an entire film, and it also marks the first time that the 86-year-old Morricone will score a western in approximately 40 years.  The film is due to premiere in 70mm theatres on December 25, and then open wide January 8, 2016...

Battles has announced that they will hit the road for a 21-date tour of North America that will kick off August 20, in Brooklyn, New York, and wrap October 20 at New York City's Webster Hall. The group will also play several European festival dates, starting August 7 in Sicily, Italy, and will then kick off a proper tour of Europe, October 23, in Manchester, England. They will remain on the road through early November, concluding the tour November 7, in Reykjavik, Iceland..
