The fourth-annual Global Citizen Festival will take place on the Great Lawn of New York City's Central Park, September 26. Pearl Jam, Beyoncé, and Coldplay will headline the festival and Ed Sheeran will also perform as part of the day's festivities.
The announcement confirms last week's mysterious tweet from Pearl Jam that seemed to indicate that the band would be performing in New York. The show will mark Pearl Jam's first concert of 2015.
Free tickets to the festival are available at the festival's official site. Fans interested in seeing the show will need to pledge to take an "Action Journey," which, according to the site, includes “making phone calls, volunteering or participating in another effort to encourage the U.S. State Department to dedicate 50% of its foreign aid budget to the world’s poorest countries.” As members complete steps, they will earn points towards entry in a ticket lottery. New Action Journeys for additional drawings will be unlocked every few weeks.
“We love the Global Citizen movement and we love opening for Beyoncé so this ticks both boxes,” curator and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said.
Select VIP tickets go on sale Friday (July 10) at 10:00 am EST via Ticketmaster. The festival will also be streamed via YouTube, MSNBC, NBC, TIDAL, BBC Worldwide, and iHeartRadio.
